We made hand print mitten ornaments today. I painted Alex's hands (one red and one green) while Gabe held on to them. We actually did all of this one hand at a time and we stopped to wash his hands in between hand prints. We pressed his hand onto a white foam sheet. I drew a mitten shape around each hand print freehand and cut it out. I glued some ribbon on the back and also wrote "Alex 2009" with a marker. Finally, they made it to the Christmas tree. If I were doing this again, I would probably paint both hands green and stay away from the red paint. Cotton balls would look cute on the bottom of the mitten, but I chose white for the mitten, so it didn't look that great with white on white.
