Home Improvement Stores

We really do go to a home improvement store every night. There always seems to be something that we need to pick up that we didn't need the last time that we were there.
There were three trick-or-treaters at work today. I saw two when I got home tonight. I guess that Gabe had quite a few. I still have a lot of candy left. I will probably send it to work with Gabe.
We watched Dancing with the Stars last night. Spoiler ahead...I cannot believe that Sabrina is gone. I expected her to win it all. Her performances were amazing and a big part of the reason that I watch the show. I guess I will have to find another favorite. I should get to bed soon...I have a lot to get done tomorrow.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Wood

We are still working on the house. It is a never ending project. Actually, I hope to have it mostly completed by the end of this year. I guess we will just see what happens. Yesterday we stopped at a pumpkin patch on the way back from Lowe's. We bought a 23 pound pumpkin and a two carmel apples. It was fun walking around. We are still working on the downstairs bathroom. I spent a lot of time yesterday stripping and staining the current wood fixtures. The new vanity is cherry in color. The oak fixtures just didn't match, so I am attempting to make it all match. I need to get ready to leave. One more coat of stain awaits me tonight.

Pictures

So, after doing laundry and picking up the house I finally went back to bed. When Gabe got up on Thursday he was trying to figure out when I had done everything, because he didn't remember it all being done before he went to bed. I guess I didn't keep him up after all.
I worked on the house on Thursday and our groceries were delivered. We went to Lowes again to look at vanities and paint chips. I think we have made decisions about several items that we need to purchase. Today we went and had our pictures taken for our Christmas cards. I really need to quit procrastinating and steam some border off a bathroom wall. I might actually be able to finish one of the bathrooms this weekend.
Gabe and I watched Ugly Betty last night. I really like the show, but Henry is starting to bother me. I want them to be together. He just needs to get his head on straight, make a decision, and stick with it. I am still trying to figure out how likely it is that the producers will let Henry and Betty be together and be happy.
We purchased our tickets to Spain a few days ago. We have been saying that we are going to go for a while now, but we actually bought the tickets. So, we are definitely going now. I have several travel guides, so the rest of the trip just needs to be planned out. Well, I guess that I really should get something done.

Fake Excuse Note

I am not so sure about these.

No Sleep

For some reason I just cannot sleep tonight. I think that it might be because I am thinking of the million things that I need to do tomorrow. So, instead of tossing and turning in bed and keeping Gabe awake, I am attempting to get some things done. I am debating staining the new doors in the laundry room, but I might save that for tomorrow. I hope that everyone else out there is sleeping peacefully.

Cadaver Calculator

Since Halloween is coming up soon, I thought that I would post the link to the Cadaver Calculator. Find out how much your body is worth. I am worth $5175...don't tell Gabe ;)

The question about vision is misleading. Most people that think they have "perfect vision" are uncorrected hyperopes that will wear reading glasses before the "normal" age and a distance prescription when they are unable to compensate for the distance correction that has actually been there all along. Or, I guess they could just walk around not seeing so hot.

YouTube

Yesterday we stayed home and watched Dancing with The Stars. Tonight, we went to Lowe's. We actually found a counter top for the bathroom that we both liked. This was something that had yet to be accomplished at both Menards and Home Depot. The only problem is it is not in stock. I have a lot of things to do, but I don't think that they are going to get done until Thursday. I can't believe that it is already almost 10:00 p.m. Any way, I thought that I would share one of my favorite YouTube celebrities with you guys (just in case you haven't heard of him). His name is William Sledd and he is from Paducah, Kentucky. He also has a website. I really like Ask A Gay Man: Fashion Edition #1, Ask A Gay Man: Special Baking Edition, Ask A Gay Man: Denim Edition, and Ask A Gay Man: Wedding Cake Edition. I know that I have told some of you about the site before, but if you haven't watched a video or two, you should give him a try. The videos that I linked to make me laugh.

Menards

We are now being recognized by the employees at Menards. We go there a lot and I think that they may start to believe that we are stalking them. I think that we might go there tonight to pick up a few things. Saturday Gabe's parents came up and we went to the movies and saw The Game Plan. It is a really cute and funny movie. Before the movie Anna (Gabe's mom), Laura (Gabe's sister) and I went shopping. I found a new rug for the bathroom. We also sent to a Lithuanian restaurant/shop. I found normal size barley! I make a stew with barley and the tiny pearl barley just doesn't do it for me. Today Anna, Laura, and I went to Ikea for breakfast. They headed out around lunch time and Gabe and I went shopping, to the post office, and to the library. We came back and took the dogs on a walk. It is such a nice day outside. I am going to shower and then I think that we are heading out again. Menards here we come!

Errands

Today has been a day of running errands non-stop since 8:30 a.m. This is the first time I am taking a few moments to breathe before continuing on with my "To Do" list. Gabe and I need to make a trip to Menard's later on tonight. There are a few items that we need to pick up (we always seem to need something from a home improvement store). I have about 5 more things that I would like to do before he gets home tonight. I am not so sure that they will all get done by around 5:00. Well, I guess I should get started. Oh, before I go, lately I have read Devil in the White City, Step on a Crack, and finished up the Shopaholic series. I am finishing up Next. Out of all of them I would only recommend Step on a Crack and the Shopaholic series. I think that James Patterson is going to have another good series on his hands with Step on a Crack.

Laundry...almost done

I am really tired and I am getting ready to go to bed. I have one load of laundry left. Boy did we have a ton! Since Gabe is in California I didn't cook dinner. I actually had pancakes. I told him that he needed to eat dinner with me because that way I would eat a healthy meal. Either way, I don't think that I would have pancakes every night. He comes home late tomorrow night. I work until at least 7:00 p.m., so he should be home a few hours after me. I am really looking forward to getting a day off on Thursday.

Busy Morning

Let's see, I went to the grocery store last night and returned home around 12:30 a.m. I put all of the groceries away while Gabe packed his bags. He left for California at 5:00 a.m. today. He is going for a work conference. This morning I got up and went to my doctor's appointment for a flu shot. Then I headed to the town hall to buy garbage stickers, the library to return a book, and the post office to mail a few things. So far I have done 6 loads of laundry and I would say that there are 4 or 5 more loads, but hey, we have towels. Now I have to get ready for work...I need to leave in about 15 minutes.

October 14, 2007

Back in Business

Woo Hoo! We are back in business. My first load of towels is finished and my second is in the dryer. I am getting tired, but I think that I might run to the grocery store tonight so I don't have to do it after work tomorrow.

Back from Wisconsin

We are back from Wisconsin. Now back to the house stuff. The tiles are down in the laundry room and Gabe is working on the trim. I need to go to Home Depot and buy a different outlet cover. I also need to swing by the grocery store if we would like to eat. We will see how things go. I have a lot of laundry to do.

Reception

Gabe picked me up from work today and we drove to Wisconsin for Andrew and Nicole's reception. We missed the ceremony. It started at 4:00 p.m., and I don't get off work until 4:00 p.m. Plus, I don't always get off of work on time. So we drove to Wisconsin and made around 6:30. It was really nice to see some of my friends from ICO again. I had not seen Tony, Ryan, Barby, and Maren since May. I did get a chance to see Andrew and Nicole in September. They had a fall themed reception and it was really nice. The food was really good, and I was really hungry. I did not get to eat lunch (I had a very steady stream of patients on Saturday). I didn't want to stop on the way up for food because I didn't want to be any later than we were already going to be. I am glad that we were able to make it.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your Marriage Andrew and Nicole!

Priming Needed

Now I am starting to think that Sunday is a pretty optimistic finish date. It will happen when it happens and I am ok with that. I have plenty of clothes to get through without a washing machine, but we may have to find a laundromat to wash some towels. Luckily we are going to be staying in a hotel Saturday night, so we won't be needing towels from our home. I have spent several hours picking up the house. Now all three floors no longer look like Home Depot, just the lower level. I am going to work on the den and then only one room will resemble a home improvement store. I can work on it when we get back on Sunday. One room being messy doesn't quite bother me, but when the entire house looked like I could open up a store and start selling home improvement supplies it was a little taxing. I think that we might relax and watch some T.V. The laundry room floor cannot be primed until tomorrow. I think that Gabe is going to work on it while I am at work. Then maybe we will be able to put the tiles down on Sunday.

Getting Closer

Today has been a pretty busy day. I painted the ceiling. Guess what color...ceiling white. Then Gabe came home for lunch. Afterwards, I went to the grocery store to buy something for dinner. We ran out of food on the menu. We had plans to go to Eldorado on Wednesday night and come back on Thursday so Gabe could work on Friday. Well, after discussing it with my parents we decided not to go. We would have arrived after 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning and we would have had to leave around noon on Thursday. We would not have even been there for 12 hours. So, there were two extra dinners that I didn't plan for. Maybe we will be able to go when Gabe can get a Thursday and a Friday off. Afterwards I painted the walls of the laundry room. I have already finished the touch up and I just finished washing the floors. We are ready to lay tile! Gabe seems to think that my estimate of having a laundry room tonight is a little overzealous and it will be sometime Sunday evening. I guess it all depends on how badly he would like a clean towel. There are only two left. Hmm...Gabe just informed me that the floor needs tile primer. Maybe his Sunday estimate is a little more correct. We are so close to being finished! Stupid tile primer.

Priming

Yesterday after work, we worked on the laundry room and the master bathroom. Gabe replaced the toilette last night and we finished it this morning by hanging up the mirror, pictures, and towel rack. The rest of today has been spent sanding and priming the laundry room. Hopefully we will be able to get one more coat of primer on tonight and I can finish with painting the room tomorrow. Hopefully one coat of paint will do it. I might have a laundry room by the end of tomorrow! It will be a pretty good thing...we are running really low on towels. Our bedroom is the next room on the list, but I think that Gabe might want to do the bathroom next. It doesn't matter to me...they are all getting redone eventually.

Paint

Saturday we ended up going to the movies. We saw Good Luck Chuck. It was okay...I would say more of a renter. We worked on the house before and after the movie. Yesterday we worked on the house and then we went to Meson Sabika to celebrate...I finally paid myself. Home Depot had a sale on paint yesterday, so we bought 6 gallons (I am going to fill the rebate form out after this blog entry). I painted the master bathroom and the paint is much brighter than we had anticipated. It was supposed to be for our bedroom too, so we went to Home Depot tonight and purchased a can of white to mix in with it. Hopefully it will lighten the color up. It is a good color for a bathroom, just a little too bright for our bedroom. I got up this morning and worked on touching up the paint in the bathroom. I need to do a little more touch up work on the trim tonight. This week is going to be really busy.

The Floor is Finished

The floor is finished. Other than a few finishing touches, the room is finished too. The laundry room is coming right along. Gabe and his dad worked on it yesterday and today. Hopefully it will be finished in a week or so. Gabe and I can work on it in the evenings. The fence is finished! The dogs love it. It was actually finished today (they started on it yesterday). Today was really busy at work. All of my appointments slots were booked. I had one no show and that is when I had lunch. I think that Gabe and I might go to Oktoberfest tonight. We haven't decided (might watch a movie). I wanted to go to the Apple Festival in Long Grove until I figured out how far away Long Grove actually is. Not much else is going on...I need to figure out what we are having for dinner.

October 4, 2007

Darn Flooring

The floor just doesn't want to be finished. We still have one piece of flooring to install. Hopefully we really will finish it tonight. I would love to finish the room tonight...we will see if actually happens. I think our fence is going to be installed today. It will be nice to be able to let the dogs outside to play. I have to get ready for work.
P.S. The floor is looking nice.

October 3, 2007

Still Installing the Floor

We didn't finish the flooring last night, but we are really close. We only have one row left. It requires a lot of cutting and we were both pretty tired, so we decided to go to bed and finish (hopefully) tonight. I sanded all of the baseboards today and put on the first coat of polyurethane. At 1:30 I get to sand and reapply again. Hopefully I can finish them and we can attach the baseboards tonight. We were originally going to paint the baseboards the same color as the wall, but then we decided against it. So, I had to sand gray primer as well. It took a while, but I think that they look ok. I think that I am going to shower and head out to the store. I also need to swing by Home Depot and pick up a few things.

The Date

Okay, I still haven't written the date correctly that we are going to Wisconsin...it is actually Saturday, October 13. To those of you wondering, I will make it on the correct date and I will make it to see all of you. Everything is written correctly on my calendar...maybe I should look at it a little more often.
Gabe and I worked on the floor some more last night. We are probably two-thirds of the way finished. Hopefully we will complete it tonight and start the baseboards tomorrow. I am really looking forward to finishing the room...its contents are spread all over the two other upstairs bedrooms.
