Halloween Parties

I am still not feeling that great yet. I have come to the conclusion that I will not completely heal until I have a week off to sleep. Lucky me, that will occur the week of the 6th. I also plan on hitting boards material really hard during that week as well. Friday night Gabe and I went to a Halloween party at Laura's. We broke out the Halloween costumes. Gabe was Robin Hood and I was Maid Marion. It was a lot of fun and I met quite a few really nice people. Last night we went to another Halloween Party. The optician at my current externship site was the hostess. Afterwards, we came home and went to bed. I was so incredibly tired that I started to sleep on the ride home. This morning we both woke up pretty early (thanks to the time change). We went to IKEA for the 99 cent breakfast. I think that this is becoming our Sunday morning tradition.

Pictures

Today Gabe, Elsa, Clara, and I had our pictures made. The dogs were pretty good about being in a store, but we did get some weird looks while walking them through the isles. Clara, of course, was fine. Elsa was pretty good until she "figured out" that she was at the vet. She started shaking. It was much better once she could run around the studio. Elsa and Clara are both pretty tired and laid down once we returned. I think that they are going to bed early tonight...I might too.

Lunch and A Movie

I am feeling much better today. Tony and Maren were going to an event in a suburb very close to the one that Gabe and I live in, so we went to lunch. It was actually quite funny, the waiter kept sitting down by me every time that he came to our table. They decided against going to their event and instead came back to our apartment and watched Flight Plan. I will say that the movie was better than I expected. As Tony said, "Don't ever underestimate the Jodie."

Exhausted

I worked from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. today and I am absolutely exhausted. Driving home sucked the remaining energy from my body. I am going to sleep. At least I get tomorrow off.

Still Under the Weather

I missed clinic again today due to a fever and just feeling plain crappy. I got up at 6:30 a.m., called in, and went back to sleep until 3:00. I have watched a lot of bad movies and slept more in the past few days than I have in the past few weeks. Either way about it, I think that I will feel okay to go back to clinic tomorrow.

Real Life Star Trek?

I wonder if David Copperfield has been doing this all along? ;)

Still Sick

I am still sick. I thought that I was getting better yesterday, but I woke up with a fever again today and to add to it, I was coughing up green stuff. I have been coughing up yellow stuff, but once it turned green I figured that I should go to the doctor. Apparently what I have started out as a viral bronchitis and then I got a secondary bacterial infection. I also have an ear infection. So, I have my antibiotics to fight the bacterial portion of my infection. I have pretty much slept all day. I feel like crap and I missed clinic again today. I am hoping that I don't have to make up the days that I am missing. I am going back to clinic tomorrow. If I can get my cough under control I can see patients, if I can't, the doctor suggested that I wear a mask. We will see how it goes.

A Little Under the Weather

I am feeling better today. Yesterday I went back to bed around 10:00 a.m. and I woke up around 2:00 p.m. I pretty much sat around all day. I watched the Gilmore Girls and went to bed around 9:00 p.m. I didn't get up this morning until about 7:30 a.m. Though I am feeling better, I still don't feel like seeing patients, so I am glad that I have today off. Back to the Gilmore Girls. I am glad that Lorelei and Chris are getting back together. I have pretty much given up on Luke since he was, in my opinion, a jerk. While I am currently having a sick day, I am trying to figure out Christmas Presents. Any ideas on what to get Gabe?

Under the Weather

Well, after driving an hour and a half to clinic today I was sent home. I am pretty sick, I sound terrible, and I feel pretty crappy. After the doctor heard my voice when I told him hi, he said "go home". I must say I was pretty relieved. I didn't think that I could handle putting in a 14 hour day. Even driving home was exhausting. I am going to bed.

Delayed

My flight has been delayed by 2 hours. Only four more joyful hours left at this airport.

Goodbye Sunshine...Hello Snow

I am sitting at the airport in Jacksonville right now taking advantage of their free wireless internet. Class this morning was only about 5 hours. It was pretty interesting. One speaker talked about wavefront technology. We also received t-shirts. If Gabe is reading this he is probably thinking, "Great! Another optometry t-shirt." So other than typing this blog I am checking my email. I still have about 3 hours before my flight. Tony is sitting next to me reading "A Walk in the Woods". I have two boards books in my carry-on. I should probably pull them out and crack them open.

Florida

Vistakon does a really good job of always keeping us occupied. We are constantly doing something. Our days start at 6:30 a.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. We really don't get any breaks in between other than eating, and they pretty much bring all of the food to us. However, tonight we went to the Aqua Grill. I had Filet Mignon and it was really good. Tomorrow is our last day here and around 1:30 we will all be returning to the airport for our departing flights...I will make sure that Tony makes it on time for this flight :) My time in Florida has passed faster than I expected. It will be nice to be back with Gabe and our dogs. I am not looking forward to leaving the 87 degree weather in Florida for the snow in Chicago...at least I don't think that it is sticking yet.

Finding your match online

I wonder if this type of thing actually works? Thanks to Beth for pointing out the site.

On my way to Florida

I left today for Florida. I know what you are thinking, but it is not a vacation. I am actually here for a contact lens conference at the Vision Care Institute. It is an all expense paid trip for optometry students or residents. There are a few other people from my school here. Tony and I were supposed to be travel buddies, but he missed the flight. So, I ended up sitting next to a lady (I am pretty sure that she was in the wrong seat) that was very unfriendly. My seat was the window seat and I smiled and told her that I was sitting next to her and she stared at me. I asked if I was in the correct space, row 15 seat D. She stared at me. I again told her that I was sitting in the seat next to her. She stared at me. I said okay and I threw my jacket and bag over her into my seat and then I proceeded to step over her into my seating area. She did not budge and neither did her bag that was resting on her shins. She took up more than her fair share of the armrest in between us (she was in my seat). She elbowed me a couple of times. She got up and walked around during landing and had to be told to put her seatbelt on during landing. She was pretty rude and I am pretty sure that she spoke English. Even if she didn't speak English she could have at least smiled back. Smiles are pretty much universal in any language.

Mmm...Cheese

Today Gabe and I headed to Wisconsin to the Pleasant Prairie Outlet Mall. We were armed with two $10 vouchers. It always seems that when I have money to spend I can't seem to find anything, but if I don't have money to spend I find a ton of stuff. After walking around the mall for quite some time I found a jacket that I liked. That was our big purchase for the day. We went to Perkins for dinner and then headed to a shop to buy some cheese. I love the cheese that comes in wax and is in a variety of shapes. I think that it just tastes better that way. This time we purchased cheese in the shape of Wisconsin. Next time I think that we might buy the cow shaped cheese. I realize that the cheese in the different shapes is all the same cheese, but I still like to mix it up a bit.

Early Off!

I am very excited! I got off early today from work! One of the doctors that works on Monday was not there, so there was only one doctor. The patient load was not heavy enough for the tech and both of us interns, so the interns were allowed to leave. I finished picking up the rest of the apartment and I have really made headway on my list of things to do. I am getting ready to watch 7th Heaven...I was really excited when I found out that they were going to continue the series. I also know that I was really disappointed about the end of the series last season, but I must say that I am not too impressed with the path that they have taken.

Camping

Well, we came back from camping today. It was pretty fun. It rained quite a bit and the ground was muddy, but we didn't let it get us down. The fire was nice (I love roasting marshmallows). I had them for dessert last night and breakfast this morning. I think that the dogs had a pretty good time. I know that Tony and Maren's dogs did, they escaped from the tent in the middle of the night. Luckily, both came back this morning and were safe. Andrew and Nicole know how to make camping comfortable with their blow-up air matress, gas stove, and sink. As my dad said, sounds like they are the smart ones. We came back a little early to get a few things completed around here. I am proud to say that the den is done! Well, everything except for Gabe's pile, but I am leaving that for him.
