Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Me! Gabe and I just returned from eating at The Melting Pot. Our dessert was really great. If my niece comes back up to visit I think that we are going to take her there. They are donating a portion of certain purchases to St. Jude. Of our $78 (before tax and tip) meal The Melting Pot donated a whopping $2.00 ($1.00 per person). I guess at least they are donating something, I just thought that it would be more along the line of $10-$15. Back to books...though I really want to play with my new iPod shuffle.

Wow $18,920

If you decided to purchase all of the items in the "12 Days of Christmas", it would cost you a whopping $18,920! This is up 3.1% from last year. The increase in cost is due to rising labor costs.

Studying

I am taking a very brief break from studying to type an entry. I am not really sure what it is going to be about, I just needed a break. I am currently looking over ocular disease material. Then I will have low vision, contact lens, and optic neuropathies left. Hopefully I will have enough time to go over some general information before the test. I am going to attempt to arrive to my internship location ever earlier than normal to get a few more minutes of study time in before the exam. Well, I am going to study some more.

Post-Thanksgiving Day

We just returned from visiting my parents. The trip was cut really short because I need to study for boards. I did study some while I was there, but I am much more productive when I am here. The drive down was unremarkable in the sense that we didn't take out any large wildlife (to my knowledge). I am sure that there was an occasional bug here and there.
The drive to my current externship location is not too bad. I can make it to the site in less than an hour. The drive home sucks! It takes about 2.5 hours. The part that really sucks is that about an hour and forty-five minutes of the drive is a ten mile section. I am currently seeking alternate routes for that portion of my drive...though I really don't think that are any.
Well, I am going back to the books.

It has been a while...

I realized that it has been a while since I have posted an entry. I finished a lot of things over my break week and I started studying for boards. This week I have been at my new site. I get up somewhere between 4:40 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. in order to get there between 6:00 and 6:45. I am working in three clinics and each one has different start times. Monday was 6:10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and I did not get any form of a lunch break. My granola bar had to hold me until 5:40 when I arrived at home. Yesterday the doctor that I worked with gave me a lunch break. The cafeteria at my new site is really inexpensive and you get more food than you can eat. My lunch was $1.50 and the doctor's was $1.90. When I work at the hospital I am not going to bother bringing a lunch, I am just going to go the cafeteria. Tomorrow should be a busy day. I am going to clinic, then Gabe and I have a "date" to study. He has to write a paper and I am going to go over some more boards material. We tried this tonight for a few hours in the common area in our apartment building and it worked out really well. Well, I am off to bed...it is past my bedtime.

Deer

We are back with the Jeep. We didn't arrive at my parent's house until after 11:00 p.m. last night. There was a slight 2 hour delay when we hit a deer about 40 miles from their home. We had to wait on the cop for an accident report. Luckily, someone at the gas station we drove to had a crow bar and we were able to pry the bumper away from the tire so that the car was drivable. Someone asked me who won? I told them from the look of my car I thought that the deer did.

Jeep

Today was my last day at my current rotation. I am really looking forward to catching up on sleep and getting things done. Plus I really need to study for boards. We are leaving to go to my parent's soon to get my Jeep for the winter.

Rotation 2 is Ending Soon!

Only three more days until the end of my current rotation. I am looking forward to having a couple of days off. I will be studying for boards pretty much the entire time. My plan was study today, but I have to go to the school to work on a presentation for the American Academy of Optometry Meeting. It is right after boards, so I have to finish it up ASAP so I can really start studying.
