Gabe and I (okay, mainly I) have been watching a few movies lately. We watched Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Umm...didn't like it. I expected to laugh a little more. Just watch Walk the Line. You might not laugh, but it is a good movie. We also watched Smart People. I thought it was going to be a comedy. We did laugh a couple of times, but again not what I expected. Made of Honor I watched without Gabe. It reminded me a lot of My Best Friend's Wedding. A guy is friends with a girl and he decides they should be together but she is already engaged to someone else. I don't think I will be watching it again, but it was worth watching once. I really like The Lost Boys from the 80's. So, when I found out there is a sequel I rented it. The Lost Boys: The Tribe started out with music from the original, but the movie just wasn't as good. It was a good movie, just not as good as the first. The Scorpion King 2: Rise of the Warrior was pretty good. I actually liked it a little better than the first Scorpion King movie. I am currently watching Drillbit Taylor. It is okay, but not worth watching again. Three boys hire Owen Wilson as their body guard to defend them against a bully.

I finished another counted cross stitch. Again, this one is a Christmas present for one of my grandmas.

I have 21 things left on my list for today. I need to get back to it...I will be happy if I can complete 9 of them!

We have been really busy this past week. Gabe will come home from work and we will leave to do things and get back around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. I am really looking forward to Thursday. We have absolutely nothing planned!

We finally know the estimated completion date of our house...November 18th! This is 16 days after the original date we were given. I guess it is better than being 6 months behind. The part that really sucks is our house will be ready on November 5th, but we can't move in until the 18th. They build in the extra time in case they need to do anything to the house. We will get walk through it on the 5th though. I can't decide if seeing it completed on the 5th is a good thing. It will be sitting there for 2 weeks teasing me because I can't move in.

Our house with stucco. Now they are working on the inside, so there won't be many changes from the outside until they paint and do the landscaping.

Gabe and I went to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Basically, it is a zoo. It is actually a lot of fun. We weren't able to see the entire area on our visit, but we joined as members so we can go back as often as we would like. I really wanted to see the javelina's but they were off exhibit...maybe next time. Gabe and I encountered one while we were walking one night, so I would like to see them in a safer environment.

Mountain Lion

White-Tailed Deer

Prairie Dogs...I just love these little guys.

Another Prairie Dog Picture.

This sign is in the parking lot (the museum is in the middle of the desert). I guess you can't feed the coyotes chocolate chip cookies.

Gabe and I went to Taco Bell the other night. We eat there maybe twice a month. This time was little different. When we walked in there was a sign that said "No Soft Tacos". So, when we were at the register I asked the person when they would have soft tacos again. He said they didn't know. They have a new regional manager and they really screwed up the last order for supplies. There were no napkins out, they were out of those too. A few people went to the rest room and came out looking for toilette paper...they were out of toilette paper! They were also very low on their packages of sauce. Maybe they need to go back to the old regional manager. I could always have a soft taco and napkins when they were in charge.

Sunday Gabe & I took the concealed carry weapons class. I really, really liked the instructor. The class is comprised of lecture, a written exam, and a practical where you have 10 shots to hit your target 7 times. Both Gabe and I passed all of the class and we both hit the target 10 out of 10 times. The cool thing is we can go back to the range and practice whenever we like. We liked the class so much we signed up to take the more advanced class. The entire thing was over 12 hours with 2 hours of driving. Some of my family is excited about taking the class.

I know the official registration date for Illinois is October 7th, but just in case you don't make it today you can still register during the late registration grace period which runs until October 21.

I am glad to see Betty out on her own in the city. I do hope that they bring Geo and Henry back. I think they each add something to the show.

Gabe and I walked through our house on Saturday morning. It is a lot different to walk through it now that it has actual walls. They still need to finish placing mud on the drywall. At some point (hopefully soon), they will finish the outside of the house and paint the interior walls.

View of mountains from our bedroom window (This picture does not do the view justice...which is a good thing because it is one of the reasons we are not in a house right now.)

Saturday we watched the movie Unhitched. It is about a girl that is marrying the wrong guy for her and the attempt to get her to marry the right guy. I am neutral on this one. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.

I have been working on another cross stitch. I am hoping to complete this on sometime this week. Like the last one, it is a Christmas present for one of my Grandmas.

Yesterday we purchased two Foo Dogs.

I was going to purchase them for Gabe, but he was with me so we decided that we would each buy one for each other. They reminded me of the Fu Dogs at Allerton.

I don't really have any fun pictures to post. We drove by our house yesterday and they have started the tape and the mud on the drywall. I would have taken a picture, but I didn't have my camera. It really wouldn't have mattered anyway since you can't see that much detail in the pictures. Gabe received an email earlier in the week and they *might* start painting the walls sometime next week. If I thought it would make things go any faster I would offer to help paint.
We watched Don Quixote on Saturday. It was in the form of a ballet. I really enjoyed it. They will be performing the Nutcracker Suite early in December. Hopefully we will be able to make it to one of the performances.
Gabe and I watched Open Water the other night. Basically a couple takes a vacation and goes SCUBA diving. Due to some wonderful counting skills, they end up being left in the shark infested waters. The ending was a huge letdown for me.
I started another cross stitch today. I have worked on it for a few hours and all I have to show for it is a purple blob. It will come together eventually.
Ugly Betty is on tonight! I am excited. We have also been watching Dancing with the Stars. I have been ready for Cloris Leachman to go home since Tuesday. We have drywall! I have never been so excited over drywall in my life. They still need to apply the tape, mud, and sand it, but at least it looks like we have walls now. I am not sure if they have already completed the inspection so they can start finishing the drywall yet, but at least the drywall is up on the walls.

We still haven't heard about the completion date, but both Gabe and I are assuming the middle of November. I still haven't given up hope for the end of October/ November 2 though. Maybe we will stop by and talk to them in a week or two to check on the progress.

Friday morning Gabe and I headed to Phoenix. I had to take the jurisprudence exam for my license in Arizona. After the exam we had lunch at a Greek restaurant and headed to the Grand Canyon.

This is my only picture of Phoenix.

On the way we stopped off at Montezuma's Castle. The name is slightly misleading. Montezuma never lived there and it isn't a castle. The Sinagua Indians lived in the cliff dwelling.

Montezuma's Castle.

Montezuma's Castle close-up.

There was some mix up with our hotel. They only had it reserved for one night, but we had a confirmed reservation for two nights. They were booked and unable to provide us with a room. So we headed back a day early...but back to our time at the canyon.

Grand Canyon.

I really like this picture because it helps to put things in perspective. It really difficult to capture the vastness of the canyon.

We stayed at the Grand Canyon until it was dark we headed back to Tusayan (the town with our hotel) and watched the National Geographic IMAX movie. Then we headed back and went to bed.

The next morning, we went back to the Grand Canyon and went along the Desert View Trail.

Cool Crow.

On the way home we stopped off at Sedona and saw the Red Rocks.

Red Rocks.

More Red Rocks.

We also stopped off at IKEA. We don't get to go as often as we used to since it is no longer a few miles down the road. We didn't get to have our usual breakfast, but we did manage to have dinner.
